Assembly has begun...

I started assembling the body today by securing the sides to the head and tail block using my releasable form. Now that the sides are all glued together, I'll leave it in the form until the top and back have been installed. That will keep everything perfectly aligned and symetrical. The form splits in half to be removed afterwards.

Trimming the sides to length

Fitting the head and tail block. The tail block is high quality birch plywood which serves several purposes, other than structural. If the guitar is dropped and cracked on the side, it stop the crack from telecopying all around the body (the alternating plys help this). It's also a better substrate for installing a strap button).
Spreaders and clamps to hold everything in place during gluing.
